Vitalik Buterin expects the Dogecoin and ZCash networks to change their consensus mechanism to proof-of-stake in the future.
According to Mihan Blockchain and quoted by theblock, Vitalik Buterin, one of the founders of Ethereum, expects two proof-of-work blockchains, Dogecoin and Zcash, to be transferred to proof-of-stake in the future.
ZCash and Dogecoin will likely follow Ethereum’s path and eventually move to proof-of-stake once this consensus mechanism matures, Buterin said at the Mainnet blockchain event. He said:
I think that as PoS matures, its legitimacy will increase over time. I hope ZCash and Dogecoin will be moved to PoS soon.
It’s worth noting that the ZCash and Dogecoin development teams have previously expressed their interest in moving to proof-of-stake in separate announcements. In mid-2021 (Spring 1400), Electric Coin, the developer of ZCash, a blog post He wrote explaining his approach and next steps for PoS implementation. Dogecoin has also proposed a similar idea.
